Little Leaguers unite for first pitch relay at Cubs-Pirates game in Williamsport

Kids from several different teams playing in the Little League World Series right now also got to take the field briefly ahead of the MLB Little League Classic game between the Chicago Cubs and Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday.

Continuing the tradition at the third annual game, 15 of them helped deliver an awesome ceremonial first pitch at BB&T Ballpark at Historic Bowman Field in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, the site of the Little League World Series.

Before the game between the two NL Central teams started, Little League players lined up from the pitcher’s mound all the way back to the warning track in the outfield in a straight line. They threw the first pitch as a relay while their teams watched on the field.

It was just a cool way for the kids to be involved in the MLB game while they compete for a trophy of their own.

Gotta feel for the one kid who dropped the ball, but who knows – maybe he’ll grow up to be a superstar and have a great story about that one time in Williamsport.

After the Cubs and Pirates players arrived Sunday, they hung out with some of the Little League players and fans at the ballpark.
